Our organization offers fixed income and equity research, sales and trading for institutional investors.
We are seeking an equity research teammate to support coverage of the Biotechnology sector. The position is based in New York City. The ideal candidate will have completed Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 FINRA exams and have at least 4 years of financial services experience with a sellside firm(s). Additionally an exceptional academic background is required with an advanced degree (PhD in Molecular Sciences or secondarily a MD) as well as having articles published in reputable scientific/medical forums, journals, or digests. Proven quantitative and written/verbal communication skills, outstanding time management skills, and a passion for conducting and communicating unique and thought-provoking research are requirements. Experience analyzing large and mid-cap biotech companies is a must. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who has a passion for the healthcare industry and especially the fast changing biotech industry.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare company and industry research reports under direction of a senior analyst
* Create and maintain financial, industry and therapeutic models
* Respond to requests for information and analysis from clients, including traders, institutional salespeople, company management teams, etc.
Qualifications
Skills Required:
* Scientific knowledge in Molecular Pharmacology and Drug Development
* End market analysis and modeling of various diseases and clinical and pre-clinical data.
* Financial modeling: Understanding of the three primary financial statements, how they relate to each other, and how to build models in Excel to forecast key values
* Statistical analysis: Familiar with statistical methods used in clinical trials
* Writing: the ability to succinctly and clearly explain complex information
* Computer skills: Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint and is familiar with IMS and Scott Levin data
* Specific industry skills: Some direct experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or former pharmaceutical sell-side/ buy-side experience a plus
* Resourcefulness: the ability to find or develop answers to questions starting with incomplete information and limited direction
* Attention-to-detail: a perfectionist approach to analysis and communication
* Speed: the ability to respond to requests very quickly while maintaining a perfectionist approach
