Associate Scientist II/Scientist I, Analytical Biotechnology - MedImmune - Gaithersburg, MD

Please note that we can hire this position at either the Associate Scientsit II level or the Scientist I level.

A scientist position is available in Automation & Method Lifecycle Management Group, which is part of Analytical Biotechnology Development. The successful candidate will develop high throughput testing solutions supporting upstream and down-stream process development. This candidate will be responsible for automating a wide variety of analytical methods, including but not limited to: immune-based binding assays, cell-based assays, affinity chromatography, FPLC/HPLC assays, and/or DNA-based assays. The candidate may also develop or assist in the development of data-management systems.

Please note that we can hire this position at either the Associate Scientsit II level or the Scientist I level.

For the Associate Scientist II level we require a BS Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience or a MS Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

For the Scientist 1 level, we require a PhD with 0 - 3 years of experience, a MS with 8 - 10 or a BS with 10 - 13.

In addition to the above, we also require the following: *

  • The candidate must possess excellent verbal & written skills, and must be able to work as a team member in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment; *
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory automated liquid-handling systems of Tecan, Hamilton, Beckman or Caliper are required; *
  • Skills and knowledge with analytical techniques of ELISA, PCR, SPR, cell-based assays, and/or FPLC/HPLC are needed; *
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel are necessary; *
  • Experience with Visual Basic & other programming languages and MS Access is desirable.
Education:
B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Biopharmaceutical or a related field.
