There is an opportunity for the appropriate candidate to fill the position of Bioanalytical Scientist/Senior Scientist within the an exciting analytical team. Reporting to the Analytical Team Leader, the successful incumbent would be responsible for supporting routine and bespoke PK and PK/PD sample analysis as well as subsequent calculation of PK parameters. Working closely with all members of the Science Department as well as external partners, the individual will ensure that analyses are performed to an exceptionally high standard and within customer deadlines. This is a key role within the Science Department and would ideally suit an individual looking to take that next step in their career. The opportunity is Lab based, however will require additional interactions across the whole company and with external partners and clients.
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum BSc or equivalent.
- Experience (minimum ca. 3+ years) of working experience, preferably within an industrial environment, utilising (u)HPLC-MS/MS techniques in support of early stage small molecule drug discovery in vivo assays.
- Experience of analysing a range of matrices: including plasma, whole blood and tissues.
- Experience of sample preparation techniques: including PPT, SPE or SLE
- The ability to perform routine maintenance on (u)HPLC-MS/MS equipment. Advanced maintenance skills would be an advantage.
- Experience with MassLynxâ¢, QuanOptimise⢠and TargetLynx⢠would be an advantage as would experience of Analystâ¢.
- A knowledge of DMPK/ADME assays (including PK parameter determination) within drug discovery is desirable.
- Exposure to (u)HPLC-MS/MS support of other molecular classes: peptides, oligonucleotides and large molecules would be advantageous.
- A wider knowledge of analytical support in drug discovery/development (normal phase chromatography, chiral chromatography and bioanalytical method validation) is also desirable.
Principal Accountabilities
- In collaboration with the Team Leader, to take ownership of bioanalytical and pharmacokinetic assay support. This includes the entire process from LIMS set-up, sample analysis, data interpretation and reporting.
- To develop bespoke sample preparation and chromatographic methods when required in support of all assays.
- To support and train other members of the Analytical Group.
- Ensuring work is performed to an exceptionally high quality, within specified time frames ensuring safety regulations and QC procedures are strictly adhered to.
- To aid in the development of new methods, improvements to the current analytical capabilities of as well as playing a pivotal role in growing the bioanalytical/in vivo business.
