Biotech R&D Positions in the North West
Are you a PhD or graduate in a biomedical sciences looking to join a biotech company at an exciting stage of its growth? Absynth Biologics is recruiting for three R&D positions to be based in laboratories in Manchester or Sheffield. Founded in 2007, Absynth is developing vaccines and antibodies to treat bacterial infections. The companyâs distinctive approach has identified highly conserved bacterial protein targets, essential for life and capable of stimulating the immune system. Absynthâs pipeline focuses on infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes and Clostridium difficile and we are looking for high quality scientists to join our team:
Group Leader
Reporting to the Director of Research, you will develop and run a team of scientists to strict deadlines and budgets. You will be involved also in defining the scientific and patenting strategy taking in to account the companyâs competitive position. You are likely to hold a PhD in a biomedical science and have seven or more yearsâ post doctoral experience within industry. You should have expertise in at least three of the following: vaccines (preferably bacterial), immunology, microbiology, in vivo models of infection or protein production. This is definitely a bench scientist role and you will be a great experimental scientist with a passion for high quality work and translational science.
Senior Scientist
You will report to the Director of Research and then act as an independent scientist, working on one or more of the companyâs programmes. You will manage a team of scientists and will direct their work as well as your own activities, to strict deadlines and budgets. You will probably have a PhD plus at least three yearsâ post doctoral experience within industry and be experienced in the following techniques: vaccines (preferably bacterial), immunology, microbiology, in vivo models of infection or protein production.
In both of these positions experience with the pathogens in Absynthâs pipeline would be an advantage.
Junior Scientist
You will probably have a degree in biological sciences and several yearsâ post graduate experience as a microbiologist and/or immunologist. Â
