SRG: Senior Scientist - Next Generation Sequencing
Based in the Cambridgeshire area, my client is a globally successful Biotechnology company providing a range of genomic research platforms to a range of industries. Working on the research and production of genomic tools used within DNA, RNA and protein analysis, my client is focused on driving forward innovation within this field, allowing the further development of molecular tests and research within industry and clinics.
Working within the field of technology development, my client is seeking a Senior Scientist within the field of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Library Preparation, to work on the development of high quality products. The role focuses on the creation and development of innovative molecular biology tools used in the preparation of samples in Next Generation Sequencing platforms.
The main responsibilities of this role will include;
· Researching existing and future DNA and RNA sample preparation methodologies.
· Preparation of Next Generation Sequencing Libraries
· Troubleshooting, diagnosis and solving of performance issues with molecular biology based protocols.
· Contribution to the development of DNA Sequencing systems, completing testing of new equipment and reagents.
· Mentor, train and coach junior staff in experimental design, execution and interpretation.
· Provide guidance and technical advice to internal teams, and to external clients.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry, and must hold strong experience in DNA Library preparation for sequencing platforms. Ideally this will be Next Generation Sequencing. Strong experience in experimental design is essential, as is modifying experimental parameters. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in project leading, and leading or supervising other team members. Candidates who have experience in the preparation of kits for Next Generation Sequencing, along with troubleshooting will be at a distinct advantage. Candidates must hold either strong industry or strong relevant academic post-doctoral experience
Candidates must also be able to demonstrate the following skills;
· Strong communication skills.
· Effective reporting of experimental findings.
· A clear ability to progress projects from concept to product delivery.
· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
