SRG are pleased to present an opportunity for a Field Engineer to join a leading organisation in the field of Automation Systems for the Life Science and Pharmaceuticals to be based in the UK.

Our client is a well-respected supplier of automated systems to leading Bio-Pharma, Regenerative Medicine and Industrial Biotechnology organisations in Europe, North America, Middle East and Asia Pacific. The organisation is currently headquartered in the UK and due to the expansion of the organisation and thanks to the success of their innovative systems they are seeking to appoint a Field Engineer.

This position will work within our client's Service & Support Group, the main focus of this role is to provide on-site and remote engineering support for the automation products supplied in the UK and Europe. The successful incumbent will provide high quality first and second line support to our client's customers, including faultfinding and rectification, installation and routine maintenance.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Act as first and second line support for field-installed base of automation products, including faultfinding and rectification.
  • Responsible for maintaining fault finding data, and feedback of product data to customers and internal groups within organisation.
  • Maintaining call status data in the Call Management database to ensure that customer information is up to date and accurate.
  • Installation and commissioning of the automated product range as required.
  • Conduct customer operator and maintenance training for products as required.
  • Liaison with the Product Support Specialists and other engineering groups within the organisation.
  • To install product hardware and software upgrades to existing installations of customer equipment and obtain customer acceptance.

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate for this position will be a practicing and confident Field Engineer with a sound working knowledge and experience of servicing of Electromechanical systems, ideally with a degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. The preferred candidate for this position will have serviced instrumentation or automation systems used in the Life Science or Bio-Pharmaceutical industry such as Bioreactors, Liquid Handling Systems, Microscopy or Diagnostic devices used in a GMP or GLP regulated environment.

As well as delivering leading edge scientific engineering support the successful candidate will provide a high degree of customer service and therefore strong communication skills are paramount.

This role will require flexibility and a willingness to work away from home and travel overseas, as and when necessary. Most site visits will be of two to four days duration, but occasional extended periods of up to two weeks may be required. Travel on a Sunday may also sometimes be required. Some previous experience of this kind of working would be a distinct advantage.
