(Paddy O’Keeffe Professorship of Grassland Science)

Applications are invited for the post of Professor of Plant Biology/Professor of Plant Biology (Scale 2) - (Paddy O’Keeffe Professorship of Grassland Science) in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) at University College Cork in Ireland.

The appointee will be an established plant biologist of international distinction, with research interests in grassland science aligned to those of the School of BEES (http://bees.ucc.ie), and will have experience of leading innovative research programmes, with evidence of significant grant capture and a high-quality publication record.

The successful candidate will also be expected to play a major role in the leadership and further development of the discipline of Plant Biology within the School, and be an effective contributor to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and administration of the School. The Chair will be expected to develop a programme of grassland science research in collaboration with and complementary to national (Teagasc, Moorepark) and international researchers. Good communication and personnel management skills are essential.

BEES is a highly research-active school and comprising 24 academic staff and more than 100 researchers, including postdoctoral researchers. BEES also has strong links to the University’s Environmental Research Institute (ERI) (http://eri.ucc.ie) and industry.  We offer a number of highly regarded taught undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, including a Masters in Organic Horticulture, as well as contributing to inter-disciplinary degree programmes in the University.

The salary scale (new entrants) for this post is: Professor (Scale 2): €90,671 - €105,738 / Professor: €106,516 â€" 136,277 per annum.
