Sr. Staff Scientist, Cell Biology

The successful candidate will be responsible
for the conception, feasibility assessment and development of novel
technologies and products used by our customers to enhance the quality of
life. Housed within the Genetic Analysis Division of Life
Technologies, the Senior Staff Scientist will focus primarily on developing
products in the areas of nucleic acid amplification, detection and
sequencing. In
addition, active participation in external technology assessments and
collaborations is expected.

Experience:

A PhD in Biochemistry or
Biophysics is preferred. Candidates with a PhD in Molecular
Biology or related field will also be considered. The ideal candidate will
have a strong understanding of enzyme function, enzyme assay development and
recombinant enzyme production. Expertise and understanding of DNA
or RNA metabolizing enzymes, like polymerases, ligases or helicases is
required. Candidates with expertise in the enzymology of DNA
methylation will be given preference. Experience developing
products for PCR or DNA sequencing platforms is a plus. A minimum
of 8 years experience in bringing cutting-edge products to the life sciences
market is required.

Strong communication skills and
the ability to work independently, or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team,
are essential. A strong desire to perform hands-on laboratory work is
required.

Candidates with expertise in the enzymology of
DNA methylation will be given preference.
