Senior Analytical Chemist
We have an opportunity for someone to take leadership of small molecule analytical chemistry and be the companyâs HPLC specialist. You will be a key member of our medicinal chemistry team and responsible for maintenance, operation and development of our open access LCMS systems. In addition you will conduct bespoke method development for challenging samples, providing separations and purity analysis. Additional responsibilities can be established based on the successful applicantâs interest and company priorities.
Responsibilities:
â¢Â   Developing analytical and preparative bespoke methods
â¢Â   Operation, maintenance and development of the departmentâs LCUV/ LCMS instruments
â¢Â   Support, education and advice for chemists with analytical and preparative LCMS
â¢Â   Optimisation of the equipment when changes of use required/ new consumables become available
â¢Â   Review new/ additional technologies for their usefulness at Astex
â¢Â   Advising the DMPK department in the optimisation of separation and equipment maintenance as required

Experience and Qualifications
You will have a BSc in Chemistry (or equivalent) and > 3 yearsâ experience working as a separation scientist preferably in a drug discovery laboratory
Experience working on analytical and preparative scale with both achiral and chiral chromatography is desirable
You should be comfortable working on your own whilst building close interactions with medicinal chemists
