BlueGnome, an Illumina company, are one of the market leaders in the development of tools for cytogenetic diagnosis using microarray technology. Their combination of industry-leading micro arrays, analysis tools and customer support expertise means that their products are now used in over 40 countries world-wide. To continue their strong growth and to help penetrate new cytogenetic markets, BlueGnome are looking for a Snr Cytogenetic Technical Support Specialist. This is an exciting and challenging position which would involve becoming an authority on cytogenetic applications for BlueGnome technology, helping current and new customers get the best results possible as well as support a growing team of Customer Support Specialists.
Job Overview:
The ideal candidate would be a thought leader and source of cytogenetics knowledge and expertise of the growing support team centred on the cytogenetics market which has recently acquired ISO 13485 certificate. This role involves working closely with all other people in customer facing roles, including sales, technical support and marketing and be a major part in ensuring that the current reputation for excellence in the field is maintained.
You will work in conjunction with the local site of product development and production to ensure that close ties are maintained for new product training and customer feedback handling. This will involve visiting customer sites on occasion to provide technical support as well as opportunities to attend and participate at key cytogenetic events across the EMEA region (travel 20%).
Within this role there will be an opportunity to grow into a management position and take on additional responsibilities.
Qualifications and experience:
- Cytogenetics qualification coupled with a strong technical background in clinical cytogenetics
- Previous support or customer facing experience strongly desired.
- Knowledge of microarrays and associated analysis software strongly preferred.
- Previous personnel management would be of benefit.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Professional communications, self-presentation and inter-personal skills

- Strong interest in sequencing and array based applications.
