At the interface between Research and Development, the Cell Line Development team has responsibility for creating and characterising the stable cell lines that produce recombinant therapeutic protein molecules for our clinical trials and have the potential to fulfil market supply. Working with an interactive team of experienced scientists in a state-of-the-art facility, the successful candidate will use a variety of molecular biology and cell culture techniques to lead all stages of cell line development programs from vector construction through to the application of innovative cell culture screening platforms to identify panels of high-performing cell lines.
Main Duties
- Development and characterisation of cell lines suitable for clinical supply of recombinant proteins. This includes:
- Expression vector design, construction and characterisation
- Transfection of DNA into cells
- Recombinant cell line subculture, screening and molecular characterisation
- Evaluation and implementation of technologies and processes that improve efficiency and performance of cell line development.
Other responsibilities:
- Co-ordination with cross-functional teams across MedImmune to achieve project goals.
- Authoring and contributing to presentations, written reports and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebooks according to MedImmune best practice.
- Keeping line manager and team informed of project progress.
Your previous experience will provide:
- Demonstrable experience of mammalian cell culture.
- Construction of recombinant cell lines.
- Practical experience of a range of the molecular biology techniques necessary for vector construction and molecular characterisation of cell lines including cloning, PCR and sequencing.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
