Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Biological Technician to join their team in London on a fixed term contract. .
Basic Requirements
- Background in scientific laboratory work (BSc Hons/equivalent in a Biomedical Science)
- Must be in Possession of a valid home office personal licence for biological experiments in rodents
- Must possess qualifications showing a level of written English consistent with that needed to identify hazards in laboratories
- Relevant experience with mice/rats
- Ability to follow instructions with care and accuracy
- Ability to work with rodent models with relevant skills, i.e. oral gavage, S/C inj., blood sampling, sedation, anaesthesia and biopsying
Duties & Responsibilities
- The postholder will assist the day to day running of in vivo experiments conducted in the groupâs laboratories.
- The postholder will be based in the groupâs facilities in London; however satellite work in collaborating departments will be common place.
- The post holder will be responsible for genetically-altered mice and rats. They must be able to carry out the general duties with empathy, ensuring that the animalsâ welfare needs are a priority.
- The role requires that a high standard of procedural work is carried out in accordance with ASPA 1986, including oral gavage, S/C, IP, blood sampling and biopsying.
- The role will also include generalised laboratory duties and maintaining high levels of hygiene.
- The post will be âhands onâ and will be involving many aspects of routine laboratory and equipment maintenance. They will also be responsible for assisting in the preparation of histology samples generated through the research projects and assisting in the maintenance of cell stocks.
