The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is a non-profit facility with the mission to use biotechnology and basic biological research to make important discoveries, improve human health, stimulate economic development and inspire young people to seek careers in science. Located in Cummings Research Park in Huntsville, Alabama, one of the world's leading science and technology business parks, the campus contains state-of-the-art laboratories for biological research and development in the areas of genomics, genetics and personalized medicine. The Director of Development is the Institute's primary development officer, responsible for design and implementation of a comprehensive program for private sector fundraising.
Included in the responsibilities will be to identify, evaluate, cultivate, and solicit current and prospective major gift donors from all constituencies for gifts ranging from $25,000 to millions of dollars; oversee annual giving programs and activities with a focus on broadening donor participation as well as enhancing current operating gifts; and to invest considerable time on growing the Institute's permanent endowment through individual philanthropy.
