Due to exceptional business growth a leading specialist in microplate reading technology are looking to recruit an Applications Support Specialist.

They are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join an expanding, dynamic sales, customer service and engineering team who provide first class support to their customers throughout the UK.

As Applications Support Specialist you would be responsible for:
- Scientific applications support and troubleshooting for academic, biotech and pharmaceutical customers throughout the UK
- Software support using both in house and Windows based programs (Excel)
- Customer and internal staff training
- Product demonstrations, user group meetings and seminars
- Development of a range of application notes to support the UK and international sales teams


Skills and Experience:
- Life sciences degree and a minimum of two years hands on experience in a life sciences laboratory.
- Practical knowledge of microplate reading technologies and associated assays including Fluorescence, Fluorescence Polarisation, Time-Resolved Fluorescence, Time Resolved FRET, Luminescence, Absorbance and Nephelometry.
- Excellent communication skills are essential with the confidence and ability to present to and train customers in a wide range of research areas.
- The personal characteristics required for this role are self-motivation, a willingness to learn, commitment to customer service, team player, organised and flexible.
- Extensive travel within the UK with the occasional overnight stays is expected with some time being spent at their UK offices in Aylesbury. Some visits to their head-quarters in Germany will also be required.


For the right candidate this role offers the opportunity work closely with the Applications Manager to extend and develop their customer support and training offering.

Jan. 18, 2013 — Membrane proteins are the "molecular machines" in biological cell envelopes. They control diverse processes, such as the transport of molecules across the lipid membrane, signal transduction, and photosynthesis.
