SRG: Category Manager - Life Sciences
A leading supplier of antibody reagents and research tools into the life sciences sector, with offices throughout the world, my client distributes its industry leading products through a global network. My client is seeking a Category Manager to work within the Marketing and Category Management Team to drive forward category growth through all channels and geographies.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to combine your scientific knowledge with experience in Category Management, working in conjunction with colleagues in Innovation, Consumer Insight and Research Areas.
The main responsibilities of the role will include;
· Drive forward development and delivery of products, primarily antibodies, to meet consumer needs. Penetrate new markets to achieve revenue growth.
· Understand the category needs of target consumers through collaborative work with Customer Insight, Research Area marketing and Regional teams.
· Decide upon product ranges required for a particular category, and the resource allocation within the category team to deliver against the proposition by consumer segment.
· Recommend a global external pricing framework, and internal transfer pricing for the category.
· Input into Research Area teams on marketing requirements for antibodies in the areas of strength, for example Epigenetics, Neurosciences.
· Decide on the product strategy; effectively manage product managers to:
o Decide on make vs buy products in category
o Input into Innovation and Manufacturing heads to set priorities for in-house product development.
o Decisions on new product additions and extensions
o Input into marketing strategies for products
· Recommendation of revenue and gross margin targets for specific category.
· Gather inputs from groups including Sales, Research Area marketing teams, and Customer Insight groups.
Candidates must have a strong experience in category management, with a clear ability and experience in developing category strategy and driving category growth. Candidates must have a strong scientific background, ideally this will be in an area if Life Sciences. Candidates must be clear, confident communicators and have strong team building and leadership skills. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to, and experience in, defining, managing and delivering to strict KPIs.
