Agenda Resource Management: Animal Facility Supervisor - Midlands - Up to £33,000 per annum
Our client is looking for a Supervisor to take responsibility of the daily functions and supervision of the gnotobiotic isolator staff, of the Contract Breeding and Transgenic Services Isolator Department.
Basic Requirements
- BSc Degree in a Biological Sciences or other animal related qualifications with proven experience in rodent production.
- Home Office Personal or Project License
- NACWO qualification and ideally experience of performing the NACWO role
- Proven experience in a managerial role.
- The job holder should have a good understanding of rat and mouse production methods and disease prevention in gnotobiotic isolator systems.
- Ability to perform licensed procedures in small rodents
- Experience with transgenic models is highly desirable.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Essential understanding of data integrity and maintenance of databases. Familiarity of commercially available animal husbandry databases.
- Ability to plan and organise the daily workload.

- Training, SOPâs Health and Safety and other risk assessments,
- Animal Husbandry, Breeding
- Computer Database/Record Keeping, Work Rotation Schedule
- Upkeep of the facility
To be proficient and able to train staff in conducting routine regulated and non-regulated procedures. Must be proficient in the following procedures: Schedule 1 euthanasia, tail and ear biopsy, micro-chipping, and injections using various routes of administration. In addition, physiological assessment (routine health monitoring) of animals is required. This will require the use of a Home Office Personal License. Maintenance of up-to-date computer records is essential.
