Protein Characterisation Scientist - Technical Operations - SDS-Page -Antibodies - Antigens - Biotechnology - Kent - 12 months - £23-28k

An international biotech company based in North Kent, currently require an experience Protein Characterisation Scientist to work as a member of the Technical Operations group. You will be involved in the development and characterisation of test methods for the analysis of antibodies and antigens in support of Biotech manufacturing groups. Initially this role will be offered as a 12 month contract.

Major Accountabilities

*Provide support and technical expertise to operations and within the group on analytical techniques.
*Carry out experimental work in a lab under the direction of technical project leads.
*Accurately document and report experimental work to characterise and validate test methods.

Essential Education/Experience/Competency Requirements

*Experience in one or more of the following areas: Protein analysis test methods i.e. SDS-PAGE gels, western blots, HPLC, dot blots, Capillary electrophoresis and characterisation and validation of test methods for use in an operations environment.
*Graduate level with some knowledge /experience of protein analytical techniques.
*Must be experienced in using Microsoft applications such as Word, excel, PowerPoint
*Must have sufficient written skills to be able to generate characterisation reports and validation protocols and/ or manufacturing documentation.
*Will be expected to be able to generate technical rationales to support test method change activities in operations
*Knowledge of what is required to work in a GMP environment.
*Strong inter-personal skills as the job holder is required to communicate with a wide range of personnel within the Company (Quality Assurance, manufacturing, etc)
*Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
*Good organisational ability due to the variable nature of the tasks involved and regular changes in priorities
*Able to write up work in lab notebooks and reports.
*Ability to accurately document experimental studies using Laboratory note books

Desirable:

*Experience with assigning validation criteria based on statistical rationales
* Experience in the development, characterisation and validation of a new test methods

Salary £23-28k
