Kelly Scientific UK: Molecular Services Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding company as a Molecular Services Manger based in Central London. The role is responsible and accountable for the daily management of the molecular services teams and peripheral laboratory operations. You will be responsible for the implementation of new assay technologies and work with the Senior Management to manage resource requirement across all projects. In addition it’s responsible for the line management of Molecular Virologist and Molecular Biology Assistants ensuring staff are trained and there is sufficient staffing to conduct assigned work.

The post will also be responsible for project managing the molecular services at additional sites and ultimately will manage teams across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide the Associate Director Virology with regular updates regarding departmental activities
  • Ensure the Molecular Services Team is sufficiently resourced
  • Set priorities, review performance and workloads to make sure those corporate services are met.
  • Ensure that Translational Research and Clinical projects are appropriately supported
  • Assist the Associate Director of Virology in building and maintaining relationships in the Scientific Community and with industrial partners
  • Assist in the selection of industrial equipment
  • Responsibility for Health and Safety
  • Work closely with project management teams to understand the scope of each piece of work, calculating resource requirement and assigning teams
  • Insure laboratory compliance with GCP

The right candidate:

  • Be educated to a minimum of degree level or equivalent
  • Strong Knowledge of molecular science
  • Previous experience managing projects
  • Line management experience
  • Strong knowledge of GCP
