Specialist, Biotechnology Lab - Palm Beach State College - Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Responsible for providing a variety of laboratory, clerical, and administrative tasks within the biotechnology department. Maintains inventory and purchases supplies, materials, and equipment needed. Ensures proper functioning of instruments, software, and equipment. Maintains lab cleanliness, replenishes consumables, cleans glassware, prepares/autoclaves reagents and buffers, lab organization, waste-disposal, and set-up and tear-down of classroom experiments. Follows general biotech protocols in setup, calibration and use of analytical instrumentation to include, but not limited to, gel documentation equipment, pH meters, plate-readers, spectrophotometers, NanoDrop, GC/MS, HPLC/FPLC, bacterial transformation, plasmid prep, and RNA isolation. Develops and troubleshoots hands-on protocols. Participates in meetings and community events. Serves as lead to lab student personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or two years of college coursework required.

Minimum of one year related experience required to include experience as a lead worker or indirect supervisor.

Must have hands-on biological science research laboratory experience.

Detail oriented, good verbal and written communication skills, and strong time management skills are required.

Mainframe Database

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.

Analytical lab instrumentation experience preferred.
