Lonza: Scientist - Process Analytics

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sceintist to join Lonza's Process Analytics department.
 
To provide direct laboratory analytical support for Process Development  that is required in the manufacture and development of antibodies and other recombinant proteins being manufactured by Lonza.
 
To provide flexible laboratory-based practical expertise across Process Analytics.
 
This is a full-time position, based in Slough, UK and will require the candidate to work 1 weekend in 3.
 
 During busy periods and after appropriate training you would be expected to undertake short term secondments to other departments within Process Development (e.g. Cell Culture Development and Purification Development).

 
To develop expert technical knowledge and flawless execution across a range of Process Analytics activities.
Planning, execution and interpretation of assays to a high quality standard.  Activities performed may include but are not limited to the following:
     * Process monitoring
     * Cell culture and Purification Development support e.g.  Product quality (MEA, SDS-Page, Caliper, IEF, GP-HPLC, oligosaccharide)
     * To test and report all results according to the relevant procedures and to meet deadlines.
     * To critically assess all results, and report any comment to PA management (in particular any out of specification results) in a timely manner.
     * To maintain laboratories and associated facilities to cGMP.
     * To attend GMP training sessions and ensure training file is maintained
     * To review and update documentation to comply with current policies.
     * To maintain relevant documentation and ensure integrity of data.
     * Support assay maintenance activities.
     * Process Development Departmental responsibilities including rostered training, maintenance and cleaning as required.
     * To ensure samples are stored in the appropriate locations.
     * To perform checks on equipment and facilities as required and to report any comments to management and/or appropriate service departments.
     * Support laboratory maintenance, tracking, archiving and information.
     * To train other staff in relevant techniques.

Essential
     * BSc in a scientific discipline or appropriate experience.
     * Background in a Biological Science.
     * Hands-on commercial experience within a similar environment.
     * IT proficient (i.e. intermediate Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
     * Theoretical knowledge or practical experience in analytical techniques.  For example;  Analytics, SDS electrophoresis; isoelectric focussing, ELISA, HPLC, LCMS.
