HRS Hyper Recruitment Solutions: Purification Development Scientist

Due to an increase in customer projects, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist to join their Purification Development team. Our client is a leading contract manufacturer based in the Berkshire area.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The role of the Purification Development Scientist will involve designing and performing laboratory experiments to test the suitability and effectiveness of various chromatographic, filtration and other protein purification procedures.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties of the Purification Development Scientist will include:

1. Performing virus validation studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of purification processes for the reduction of viruses.

2. Interpretation of data from development studies or validation studies obtained and to plan the next set of experiments where required.

3. Analysis of protein samples by a variety of analytical techniques.

4. Performing validation studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of purification processes.

5. Regularly communicate results by means of verbal presentations and written reports to both internal groups and to customers.

6. Preparation of study protocols and reports (cGMP) to document purification validation activities for regulatory submissions as appropriate

7. To perform purification development and validation studies for antibodies and other recombinant proteins being manufactured.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for the role of Purification Development Scientist, we are looking for candidates to demonstrate the following:

1. A First Class qualification in Biochemistry (or other relevant discipline e.g. Applied Biology or Biotechnology). For recent graduates, a project, industrial placement or a summer job related to protein purification would be a strong advantage. Strong practical laboratory skills and an enthusiasm for science are essential.

2. Ideally some experience of or knowledge of virus reduction studies.

3. A working knowledge of the theory of protein purification and protein structure is required.
