Margaret Hodge Recruitment: Fermentation Production Manager

This is a terrific opportunity to further your career with a market leader in the production of monoclonal antibody for use in Blood typing reagent and disease state diagnostics. Due to continuing success they now have a vacancy for a Production Manager biologic process. This is a senior position within a biologics manufacturing facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day activities associated with running the production facility and process including Tissue Culture, Fermentation, Down Stream Processing, Formulation and Purification of a range of biological proteins within a highly regulated quality environment adhering to FDA, ISO and cGMP procedures and guidelines.

The role will consist of the following activities:

  • Manage and organise the Production area ensuring objectives are implemented in line with the Corporate and Site business goals. Direct and oversee all department staff in the performance of their respective duties, and complete related HR activities, including interview, disciplinary and performance management tasks.
  • Perform investigations of manufacturing operations such as deviation reports, non-conforming product reports, corrective action reports, etc.  Produce documentation according to established standards.
  • Work with technical scientific staff on making process improvements and introducing new products and equipment into manufacturing.
  • Investigate daily manufacturing problems with processes and equipment and make recommendations for resolution in accordance with the Quality System and ensure accuracy and timeliness of approved implementation plan.
  • Train new employees in the manufacturing operation; as needed, provide on-going staff training on revised manufacturing procedures such as run sheets, SOPS, CAPA’s, etc.  Complete timely performance reviews; counsel and mentor assigned staff as needed.

Qualifications and Experience required:

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Degree or higher in a Life Sciences or Engineering discipline.
  • Experience within a highly regulated environment and knowledge of FDA and cGMP procedures are essential. A minimum of 3 years experience is required.
  • Knowledge of fermentation systems
  • Knowledge of tissues culture processes
  • Purification knowledge preferred
  • People management experience - managing a diverse team, highly effective communication is essential
  • Ability to multi task and manage multiple projects / tasks at a given time
  • Change management - ability to drive change in the process and facility
