MedImmune: R&D Associate I/II - Large scale purification development

MedImmune currently require a Protein Purification Scientist to join our Downstream Processing team.

The ideal candidate will be willing to learn and challenge current practices, have good attention to detail and be able to work to deadlines. The position involves the purification of antibodies and other proteins to a high specification. 

This role will spend a significant amount of time based in the laboratory preparing and executing purifications ranging from small scale method development to pilot scale material supply. This position would be an ideal opportunity for a driven individual looking to gain valuable experience in a downstream processing environment.

Core Responsibilities include:

General laboratory activities will include

  • Small to large scale protein purification (e.g., affinity, ion exchange, mixed mode)
  • Protein analysis ( e.g., HPLC, SDS PAGE, Spectrophotometer)
  • Cross functional working
  • Detailed record keeping
  • Presenting to internal and external audience

Education: BSc in relevant subject eg: Biochemistry/Chemistry/Engineering.

Your previous experience will provide:

  • An understanding of the basic principles of protein purification and the associated analytics.
  • Preferably some industrial laboratory experience
  • The successful individual will demonstrate a hard working attitude, a balanced and meticulous approach to work and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • You will be adaptable and a team player with a conscientious attitude and enthusiasm. Demonstrate clear communication and be capable of multitasking.
