Agenda Resource Management: Senior Animal Technician/Group Leader ARM 1570

Our client is looking for a Senior Animal Technician/Group Leader to coordinate the work of all projects on their site and provide a central communication service. This role would suit either a Senior Animal Technician or an experienced Animal Technician looking to progress their career.

Basic Requirements

  • IAT, BTEC, Home Office Personal License or other animal related qualifications advantageous with proven experience in rodent production.
  • The job holder should have a good understanding of rat and mouse production methods and disease prevention in gnotobiotic isolator systems.
  • Experience with transgenic models is highly desirable, including the understanding of complex breeding/mating formats.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Essential understanding of data integrity and maintenance of databases.  .
  • Expected experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Previous experience of team leadership/training.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide specialist technical support for the Contract Breeding Services (CBS) Isolator Department as required by the Project Management Group and Senior Management of the unit.  This includes but not limited to:  preparing weekly reports for Project Management, daily liaison with staff members, general correspondence with support staff including veterinary services.
  • To maintain and manage the animal colonies present in the CBS Isolator Department according to the programs of the department.
  • To provide training in their specialist technical areas of work including but not limited to: animal husbandry, colony maintenance, record keeping, animal health records, monthly invoicing and isolator maintenance.
  • To become competent in the new areas of animals technology/husbandry, as the daily work of the CBS Isolator Department develops.
  • SOP’s Health and Safety and other risk assessments
  • Computer Database/Record Keeping,Work Rotation Schedule.
