The Position
We are looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Specialist  to join the Protein Expression and Purification group within Discovery Technologies in Basel, Switzerland. The laboratory team is responsible to generate recombinant proteins for all disease areas with an emphasis on their use in biological assays and biophysical methods.

Your tasks include:
• Hands-on purification of recombinant proteins and expert use of a diversity of analytical techniques for protein analysis and characterization
• You take the initiative for planning and performing the experimental tasks independently and you are  responsibe for an accurate and proper documentation of the results
• You present and discuss the outcome of your research work within the team
• Evaluation, assessment and implementation of new experimental procedures and methods is an essential element of your work.

  • Apprenticeship with extensive practical experience, and/or Bachelor/Master degree in the area of interest (no PhD)
  • The ideal candidate should have a very good education in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related areas with extended hands-on experience in protein purification and/or protein analytics.
  • Knowhow for cloning and molecular biology methods would be advantageous.
  • excellent experimental and scientific skills and motivated to broaden the area of your expertise permanently
  • Daily interactions with other groups require good communication skills, high flexibility and a full commitment to team work
  • Knowledge of English and German are equally important
  • If you combine a motivated, autonomous, well-organized and interested personality with scientific curiosity you will be our first choice
  • the position does not require extensive academic background, like PhD degree.

University of Edinburgh researchers have found that the bacteria are able to change key cells that line the intestine, enabling the bugs to thrive.
