Lonza: Group Leader - Study Direction Group

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Group Leader to join Lonza's Analytical Services function in the study direction department.  The role will provide strong leadership and line management to direct reports to enable them to be a highly scientific team by imparting scientific knowledge and experience through pro-active performance management, mentoring and coaching.
 
This is a permanent role based in Slough, UK.
 
Responsibilities-
• Manage a team of up to 12 Scientists and Senior Scientists.
• Identify and manage individual and team training needs and plans.
• Ensure that high standards of science and quality of work are maintained for customer projects.
• Create realistic work plans depolying resources to deliver planned work to schedule.
• Manage progress, operational constraints and unplanned events to maintain schedule adherence.
• Some review and approval of study protocols and reports to ensure that studies are delivered to the appropriate scientific and technical quality.
• Ensure a strong and effective interaction Analytical Services departments.
• Provide technical support for development scientist. Manage and ensure high standard of science and quality of work maintained for direct reports.
• Contribute to the efficient running of the department. Major contributor to departmental policies, objectives and delivery.

• Substantial and demonstrable line management responsibility with proven ability to develop, coach and mentor high quality scientific individuals.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, an ability to work on own initiative and deliver objectives on time with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Anticipates issues and shows initiative for problem solving and generating new ideas.

• Knowledge of GMP processes and experience of defence of analytical data to internal and external quality auditors.
